Come join our annual winter outing to wonderful Otmoor reserve to see the spectacle of a massive Starling murmuration! Plenty of other winter wildlife to spot too.
As usual, we will car share from Ealing, so please post here in this event’s comments section if you need a lift or can offer one.
It will be muddy, and likely cold, so wrap up well and wear waterproof boots, preferably wellies. We shall depart Ealing at midday to reach Otmoor about 1pm, meeting in the reserve car park. Sean will lead. We have spare binoculars if you don’t have them, all experiences welcome, it’s a perfect beginners intro to birdwatching. And telescopes will be shared too to give you up close views of species you may never have heard of. Kids welcome, would suggest over 8s as there’s a fair amount of walking and waiting around. Under 18s accompanied by an adult.
Bring lunch and hot drinks which we will have in the comfort of the bird hide before we go to the starling view point. There are no toilet facilities at Otmoor, so the Abingdon Arms pub in Beckley village before you hit the lane is a good pitstop at the beginning. We often have a warming drink there after the trip too.
