Linking your garden to the wider landscape is one of the most important things you can do to help hedgehogs avoid being hit by cars. Hedgehogs travel around one mile each night to find enough food and a mate.
Perhaps you saw Ealing’s hedgehogs featured in BBC Wild London in January 2026. Are you keen to make your garden part of this formidable hedgehog-friendly corridor, but not sure where to start?
You can Make your own hole and map it on the BIG Hedgehog Map, you could find a company which offers fencing with hedgehog highways already installed, or you could talk to your neighbours (become a street hedgehog champion!) and sign up for our free Highways Drilling Service.
Ealing Wildlife Group has created a team of dedicated drillers to turn Ealing’s gardens into a safe and interconnected haven for hedgehogs.
How does this free service work?
