Learn about some of the larger and more distinctive species of longhorn beetle occurring across the United Kingdom with Wil Heeney.
All bookings via Eventbrite. Tickets are £10 each.
The UK is home to over 70 species of longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae) that can be found occurring in natural habitats that have been recorded to date. Some of the larger species have interesting patterns and colouration, making them relatively easy to recognise in the field.
This presentation will explore some of the larger and more distinctive British longhorn beetle species, with tips on their ID features, ecology and distribution – as well as where and how you might find them. At the end of the session, learners should feel more comfortable submitting records of these fascinating beetles to iRecord.
The 90-minute course will consist of a 1-hour presentation followed by a Q&A with the tutor using questions provided by the live audience. This training course is the first in a series of 2 from the National Longhorn Beetle Recording Scheme. Check out Part 2 here (opens for bookings on Sun 18 Feb 2024 at 9 pm)
